Day 1: Hanoi – Ta Xua (200 km)

Leaving the urban bustle behind, we cruise westward on smooth tarmac, gradually transitioning into winding mountain roads. The scenery transforms into tea hills, rice paddies, and scattered stilt houses.
As we climb into the cloud kingdom of Tà Xùa, mist drifts across our path and sharp corners demand full attention — a great warm-up for what's ahead.

Day 2: Ta Xua – Tram Tau (70 km)

A short but technically demanding ride. We navigate narrow trails, landslide-prone slopes, and gravel bends through a remote ridge connecting Tà Xùa to Trạm Tấu.
This is a true off-road experience, with panoramic views of layered mountains and untouched forests.
In Trạm Tấu, we’ll enjoy a traditional herbal hot spring bath — a healing custom of the local Thai community.

Day 3: Tram Tau – Mu Cang Chai (100 km)

After breakfast, we take a mix of off-road and asphalt through Nghĩa Lộ and conquer the legendary Khau Pha Pass — one of Vietnam’s four “great passes.”
Descending into Mù Cang Chải, we ride through a breathtaking tapestry of terraced rice fields, declared a national heritage site.
This region is home to Black H’mong families who still practice traditional weaving, embroidery, and indigo dyeing.

Day 4: Mu Cang Chai – Sapa (160 km)

We head north through Lai Châu’s majestic valleys and begin the long, scenic climb up Ô Quy Hồ Pass — the highest paved mountain pass in Vietnam.
With views of Fansipan, the “Roof of Indochina,” and dramatic cloud layers, this is a dream ride for any motorcyclist.
In Sapa, we explore the French colonial hill town, visiting local markets and perhaps strolling to Cat Cat or Ta Van village.

Day 5: Sapa – Bac Ha (110 km)

After a relaxed morning coffee above the clouds, we descend from Sapa through narrow backroads and hidden valleys.
Bac Ha welcomes us with colorful markets (especially on Sundays), the distinct architecture of the H’mong and Tay people, and historical landmarks like the Hoang A Tuong Palace.
The town is less touristy than Sapa, offering a more intimate cultural experience.

Day 6: Bac Ha – Ha Giang (170 km)

We leave early and cruise along scenic river valleys and quiet provincial roads.
Crossing lush hills and suspension bridges, we reach Ha Giang city — the gateway to Vietnam’s most rugged frontier.
In the evening, we’ll register for our permit to enter the protected Dong Van Karst Plateau.

Day 7: Ha Giang – Dong Van (150 km)

One of the most thrilling motorcycle rides in Vietnam. We snake through the rocky wonderland of Dong Van Geopark, stopping at:

And finally, the epic Ma Pi Leng Pass, clinging to cliffs above the Nho Que River.
You’ll ride hairpin turns, wave to kids shouting “Hello!” and experience the soul of Vietnam’s highlands.

Day 8: Dong Van – Bao Lac (100 km)

Today we ride a scenic and challenging route hugging the Chinese border.
We pass through Meo Vac and descend the remote mountains into Bao Lac, a small town tucked into a valley surrounded by lush hills.
We’ll encounter Lo Lo and Black H’mong villages along the way, and take time to enjoy local food and relaxed village life.

Day. 9: Bao Lac – Ba Be (150 km)

After a traditional breakfast, we continue south along winding roads following the Gam River.
The ride is smooth and scenic, with green valleys and remote farmlands.
Arrive at Ba Be National Park in the afternoon and relax by the lake.

Day 10: Ba Be – Hanoi (230 km)

Ride back to Hanoi through peaceful rural backroads. The tour ends at our Lost Trail Travel garage. We’ll arrange a taxi transfer to your hotel in the city center.
