Day 1: Hanoi – Ta Xua (200 km, Bungalow Stay)
We depart Hanoi, following the Red River for about 50 km to Son Tay, then continue to Thu Cuc for lunch. The route winds through peaceful villages and scenic hills before reaching Phu Yen for a short coffee break. From here, we tackle 60 km of breathtaking mountain passes to Ta Xua – a cloud-hunting paradise at an altitude of 1,500–1,800 meters. The cool year-round climate and stunning views make this a memorable stop. We arrive around 5 PM and check into a cozy bungalow in the hills.
Day 2: Ta Xua – Mai Chau (210 km, Homestay)
After breakfast with a panoramic mountain view, we return to Bac Yen and follow a local boat across the river. The Provincial Road 34 leads us through remote areas to Moc Chau, known for its tea plantations. We continue along winding backroads to Mai Chau – a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains, where we stay with a Thai ethnic family in a traditional stilt house.
Day 3: Mai Chau – Ninh Binh (150 km, Bungalow Stay)
We begin the day with breakfast at our host’s home, then ride through a village in Thanh Hoa province famous for making chopsticks. A scenic route takes us through Pu Luong Nature Reserve for a coffee stop, then follows the Ma River down to Ninh Binh. We aim to arrive in Tam Coc by 3 PM to enjoy a peaceful boat trip through limestone caves. Overnight in a charming bungalow.
Day 4: Ninh Binh – Vinh (200 km, Hotel Stay)
Today is a long but smooth ride along the historic Ho Chi Minh Trail. We leave at 7:30 AM, passing through rural landscapes of Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces. We stop at Uncle Ho Chi Minh’s hometown to visit his memorial house, then continue to Cua Lo Beach. Arrive at the hotel around 5 PM.
Day 5: Vinh – Phong Nha (210 km, Hotel Stay)
After breakfast, we visit Dong Loc Junction – a historical site marking the bravery of 10 young female volunteers during the war. We then continue on the scenic Ho Chi Minh Trail, passing remote villages and dramatic limestone karst formations. As we approach Phong Nha National Park, the views become lush and green. We end the day with a boat ride into the magnificent Phong Nha Cave.
Day 6: Phong Nha – Khe Sanh (180 km, Hotel Stay)
We take the western Ho Chi Minh Trail – a secret route not discovered by U.S. forces during the war. It offers some of the best riding in Vietnam. The landscape is untouched and full of history, with many spots where North Vietnamese troops once crossed into Laos. We arrive in Khe Sanh – the site of a major U.S. Marine base – around 5 PM.
Day 7: Khe Sanh – Hue (150 km, Hotel Stay)
We visit the Khe Sanh museum, then ride along Route 9 beside the Dakrong River. A key highlight is the Vinh Moc Tunnels, an underground village used during the war. We then follow the beautiful coastal road to Hue, the ancient imperial capital nestled along the Perfume River.
Day 8: Explore Hue
After a relaxing Western-style breakfast, enjoy a leisurely motorbike ride around Hue. Visit famous sites like the Imperial Citadel, Thien Mu Pagoda, and royal tombs. You can also explore traditional villages or unwind at your hotel pool in the afternoon.
Day 9: Hue – Da Nang – Hoi An (130 km)
We follow a stunning coastal route lined with fishing villages and beaches. One of the trip’s highlights is riding over the Hai Van Pass – an unforgettable stretch of winding road with panoramic views of Da Nang. After a coffee break at the pass summit, we ride downhill to Da Nang, then continue to Hoi An, where the journey concludes.
